The Nevada Mineral Exploration Coalition (NMEC) is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan coalition of small businesses and individuals engaged in, or in support of, mineral exploration and development activities in the State.
The NMEC believes these activities are essential to Nevada's economy and the sustainability of the State's mining industry.
As NMEC members, we are committed to working with public officials, other organizations and the general public to increase the understanding and appreciation of these pre-production components of Nevada's mineral industry and to work diligently to preserve and enhance the ability of this essential segment of Nevada's economy to help insure the long-term well-being of our State and its citizens.
Our Goals
We work to expand our outreach efforts and do our best to insure that we are aware of, and have input on, political and regulatory activities that have the potential to impact exploration in Nevada. Our activities will include:
1. Participate in the Nevada Legislative Sessions advocating for legislation that will help support and protect the exploration industry, and fighting against legislation that will harm it
2. Lobby local and other governmental entities to affect the course of legislative and regulatory action
3. Work with other, larger groups (NvMA, AEMA, etc.) to have direct and effective input into national issues that affect exploration
4. Work with state and local governments to promote exploration as a business development issue and actively promote policies that will expand exploration activity and spending in the state
5. Carry out educational programs directed at policy makers and the general public - in particular, helping to host "Exploration Day at the Legislature"
The Coalition is open to everyone with a stake in mineral exploration in Nevada.
