SAVE THE DATE: Great Basin Rendezvous

The dates for Nevada Mineral Exploration Coalition’s (NMEC’s) 2022 Great Basin Rendezvous (GBR) are September 9th - 11th.

The GBR will be again be hosted by NMEC at the Royal Peacock Opal Mine in the beautiful Virgin Valley adjacent to the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge south and west of Denio, Nevada.

The Royal Peacock Opal Mine has been owned and operated since the 1940s by a single family and offers precious black opal digging for a discounted fee to GBR participants. The Royal Peacock Opal Mine offers 60 dry camping spaces and RV/trailer spots with 30- or 50‑amp hook-ups. Quality bathroom and shower facilities are available along with a fire ring and large grassy area. This year, the famous "Northern Lights" area, the part of the Royal Peacock Opal Mine that was featured in The Travel Channel's "Cash and Treasures" program with Kirsten Gum, will be open. Famous opals found here include the Northern Lights Delight (also called "the shoe") and the massive Ginkgo Log. At 130 pounds, the Ginkgo Log is among the largest opals ever found anywhere in the world! It was found by a customer in the late 1990s.
